How I Operate in the Supernatural

The Power of God in Me Part 2

by Kayla Kennada

Spiritual wisdom isn’t natural

The Word of Wisdom is not the same as man’s natural wisdom that is used in everyday life.  King Solomon asked God for an understanding heart to be able to judge His people by discerning what is good and evil (1 Ki 3:9).  He needed wisdom concerning life’s issues to be able to rule the people well. James 1:5 states “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” Solomon asked God for wisdom and he was made the wisest man on earth then and forever. This was natural wisdom concerning life’s issues.

How it flowed through me

The gift of the Word of Wisdom is spiritual. It is something you didn’t already know that the Holy Spirit reveals to us. For example, I gave a word of wisdom to Dr. Johnnie Blount. It was in December when we normally don’t travel putting on events throughout the winter. Dr. Johnnie had to go to Spain to pick up his daughter, Nissy, who had lived there for a year. He was concerned because of that expense, that the ministry wouldn’t have enough money to last through the winter.

He told me we may have to put on events in these months to have enough money. I felt in my heart and said that I believed we wouldn’t have to work for the money. I told him that someone was going to bless the ministry with it. He paused a minute and then said okay, so we did not schedule any events. In January, after he brought Nissy back, she was in the car with him when he got a phone call. A man said the Lord told him to sow a sacrificial seed to Bridging The Gap Ministries for $30,000. Dr. Johnnie called me to tell me my Word of Wisdom (concerning the future) had come to pass.

I prophesied over the phone!

Another time I flowed in the gifts of Word of Knowledge and Wisdom when we were on our Bible study conference call. I was the hostess and Dr. Johnnie was the speaker. The online program I used glitched. So, although he was on the call, I couldn’t see that he was there. I was frantic thinking that I had to teach in his place. Then the thought came to me “just prophesy”. So, I did it even though it wasn’t common at that time for me to prophesy. Especially since I had only prophesied in person while touching people. So, it should not have come easy for me to prophesy, let alone over the phone.

However, I became excited as I thought to myself “I can do that”! That’s a lot better than having to teach. So I prophesied to every person on the call. Each person was ecstatic to receive their prophecy. Afterward, I found out that Dr. Johnnie was on the call and he asked me how I did that. He was astonished how the Holy Spirit flowed through me.  It wasn’t long after that when the Holy Spirit told him that I was a prophet. That’s when he began to have me prophesy alongside him at our meetings.

Biblical examples

There are Biblical examples of the Word of Knowledge and the Word of Wisdom in operation. Jesus, through a Word of Knowledge, knew all about the woman at the well in John 5. The Prophet Joel received a Word of Wisdom when the Holy Spirit came upon him. He foretold the future of the Holy Spirit pouring out His Spirit on all flesh in the last days. (Joel 2:28-32.) It was fulfilled in Acts 2:16 when Peter said “But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel.” Another time in Acts 5:3, Peter received a Word of Knowledge that Ananias and Sapphira were lying to him.  These are just a few of the many instances when these gifts were in operation in the scriptures.

What about the other Gifts of the Holy Spirit?

There are nine spiritual gifts that are given to the body of Christ (Christians) listed in 1 Corinthians 12:4-11. I already mentioned six of the nine gifts. The other three are the Power gifts: faith, healing, and miracles. There was a time when my son had his hand crushed as the truck door was completely shut on it. I saw it flop and dangle as it was released. And I knew it was crushed between his wrist and top knuckles. He held it to his chest tightly while screaming in agony.

In my panic I spoke fast and furiously to his hand that he was healed. Speaking that there would be no broken bones, and anything else I could think to say. Then I prayed in tongues. After a few moments which seemed unending, he slowly stopped screaming and then began to relax. I asked him to let me see it now. When he held his hand out for me to see, there was no sign that anything had happened to it. There were no marks at all to prove his hand had been shut in the door. He was completely healed. That was the gift of healing in operation.

The difference between the Gift of Healings and Miracles

Many confuse the Gift of Healings with the Gift of Miracles. The Gift of Healings has to do with our physical bodies being made whole and freed from sickness and diseases. While the Gift of Miracles goes against the natural course of nature. Such as when Jesus calmed the storm or walked on water. Another instance is when I spoke to a tornado to dissipate and it immediately disappeared.

We all benefit when the gifts are in operation

My purpose for writing this is that you might have the desire to function in these gifts after hearing about them. In 1 Corinthians 14:1 Paul said to desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. In 1 Corinthians 12:7 he said the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all. We all benefit from the use of these gifts. It has been such a rewarding experience for me to operate in the supernatural as Jesus did. It is the ultimate gift and blessing that comes with being a Spirit-filled believer.

How the gifts can flow through you

In order for you to function in these gifts you must have received salvation. (That’s when you asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior). Receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues is the next step. Then learning to recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit. In Acts 1:8 Jesus told the 120 in the upper room  “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” These gifts and the power it takes to operate in them, only come from the Holy Spirit. As I operate in them I am aware it is not coming from me. But it flows through me from the Holy Spirit.

Using the authority we have been given

There is another way to walk in the supernatural power of God without using the nine spiritual gifts. It is by using the authority we have been given. Jesus taught in Mark 11:23-24 “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”

I spoke to the storm

I have put this to practice several times. Recently, the weather sirens went off near my house. A tornado warning was issued in my area. I stepped outside to see very eerie looking clouds rolling and spinning while quickly coming into our small, quaint, town. Immediately I began to speak to them to dissipate and for the weather to calm down. Then I continued for a few minutes along with praying in the Spirit. As I spoke they slowly began to normalize until the threat was gone.

My neighbor across the street saw me outside and came walking over watching the clouds that were no longer a threat and said “Boy, we dodged the bullet there, didn’t we?” I knew why we were spared. I spoke to the mountain (circumstance or trouble) and it obeyed me, just as Jesus spoke to the storm in Mark 4 and also to the Fig tree in Mark 11.

You can walk in the supernatural too

There is much more to tell that won’t fit in a blog, so if you’d like to learn more about walking in the supernatural you can check out our Be the Word Kingdom Academy btgacademy.thinkific.com, of which I am one of the instructors. I pray that this has inspired you to “Be the Word” by following Jesus’ example of walking in the supernatural.
